    About this course.

    The Psoas. One of the most important muscles every dancer and human being should know about! Unfortunately this muscle is hard to locate and even harder to use and lengthen properly.

    When we come across issues with our Psoas, we can have poor posture, poor turnout, tight hips, tight glutes and even feel stressed!

    This course is literally going to unlock your psoas muscle by helping you locate, visualise, strengthen and lengthen it.

    Discovering your Psoas muscle is going to be a breakthrough moment for you and we are so excited to be apart of that.

    Course breakdown.
    Psoas Course – Lesson 1

    Let’s Visualise and find our Psoas muscle. Because the Psoas is so deep running from your lower back all the way round to the front of your body attaching at the hip, it can be hard to find!

    In this lesson we will find it, learn tools to visualise it and also try to relax it preparing it to lengthen and strengthen in the following lessons.

    This is a great lesson to come back to when struggling to locate or relax your Psoas muscle.

    Psoas Course – Lesson 2

    Welcome to the next lesson. Now we’re in a relaxed state, we will be lengthening the muscle with some of my most favourite exercises. You will need a stretching band for this along with two soft balls which you can find on amazon under ‘miracle ball method’

    It’s key to keep yourself as relaxed as possible in this lesson with very little tension in the muscles, focusing on length and space in the hip joints.

    After this, when you stand up, you should feel much more lengthened in the back, grounded in the legs, open in the hips and tall in the torso.

    Psoas Course – Lesson 3

    Now it’s time to strengthen your Psoas muscle. By now, you should be feeling amazing in your body and much longer.

    Of course we need to be strong. Working the Psoas in a functional way is key here. This allows us to keep it long even whilst we strengthen it. What we don’t want is to shorten the Psoas as we build strength as this is counter productive and will lead to inhibited turnout and poor posture.

    With the visualisation we have learned and these functional exercises, you will build strength whilst keeping length. This is key. Let’s get started.

    ​Isabella trained at The Royal Ballet School and then became the first British girl to join the Vaganova Ballet Academy in Saint Petersburg at 15 where she studied for 4 years. She joined the Mikhailovsky Ballet in Russia as a soloist and later danced with Eifman Ballet.
