About this course.

Welcome to The Grand Allegro Course!

This is the most complete course for building a good jump.

We will be working on building strength for jump, building vertical jump, building speed and agility as well as expert tutorials and rules taught by Isabella so you can master all the key grand allegro jumps effectively leading to consistent results.

Without strength for power we will find it hard to lift off the floor. Likewise without correct coordination of the arms and legs along with body position, we won’t execute the jumps effectively.

Over her long training period at the best school in the world, Isabella learned exactly what needs to be thought about to execute each jump optimally.

Let’s dive in and improve your grand allegro!

Course breakdown.

 

Lesson 1 – Build Strength for Jump
30:00

Welcome to The Grand Allegro Course. In this lesson, we will be building for jumping. This means training the thighs, core, hamstrings, hip flexors and glutes. These exercises will work your muscles to fatigue, building the strength required. Without the strength we will never get off the floor high enough to achieve a wonderful jump.

Equipment you will need is a glute band/theraband, dumb bells, ankle weights and a small stool.

Lesson 2 – Build Vertical Jump
11:00

In this lesson we will be building strength for vertical jump, this often means reacting quickly to the floor and exploding upwards to gain height. Building explosive power is very important to be able to explode off the floor quickly and high.

The equipment you will need is, a long resistance band, heavy dumbbells or medium pair of dumbbells, ankle weights and a small stool.

Lesson 3 – Build Agility and Speed
7:00

In this lesson you will need a speed ladder. If you don’t have one you can also use tape on the ground.

This lesson is all about building your fast twitch muscles, speed and agility. This will help you react quickly to the floor. For example, you’ll be able to do a fas glissade into an explosive grand pas de chat! If your fast twitch isn’t working optimally, the whole process of getting into the jump will take a lot longer than it should making your jump suffer.

Lesson 4 – Pas Couru Jeté

In this lesson, we will be learning how to execute pas couru jeté effectively. The correct co-ordination and expert tips from Isabella creating consistent and lasting technique. Let’s learn the rules.

Lesson 5 – Entrelacé/Tour Jeté
8:00

In this Lesson we will be mastering Entrelacé/tour jeté. This is a difficult jump not only because of the jump itself but the transitions into it. As we know, the linking steps are extremely important to be effective. Let’s dissect this amazing jump and improve!

Lesson 6 – Saut de Basque
9:00

In this lesson, we are mastering Saut de Basque. How we hold the back and throw the leg is extremely key here. With any jump it requires a few key cues and thoughts to execute it well. Isabella will give you those rules leading to optimal results again and again.

Lesson 7 – Temps du Flèche
6:00

In this lesson we will be learning Temps du Flèche.
This Jump is extremely beautiful.
The issues we see are people “crawling” along the ground instead of lifting the body and legs creating a lighter jump. Let’s dissect!

Lesson 8 – Cabriole
6:00

Cabriole is a fabulous jump! The key is body position, coordination of arms and legs as well as making sure the beat happens with correct technique.
A jump Isabella practiced endlessly to perfect it.

Lesson 9 – Grand Jeté/ Grand pas de chat
10:00

In our final lesson we will be looking at the iconic jump of grands pas de chat or grands jeté.
With Isabellas long physique, getting the coordination of the jump was hard. However she discovered all the keys to master a gorgeous jump.

Isabella McGuire Mayes
Founder

​Isabella trained at The Royal Ballet School and then became the first British girl to join the Vaganova Ballet Academy in Saint Petersburg at 15 where she studied for 4 years. She joined the Mikhailovsky Ballet in Russia as a soloist and later danced with Eifman Ballet. Isabella later founded BWI  and her podcast helping dancers all over the world both with the physical side of ballet and mental side. Helping you reach your true potential.
