    About this course.

    Welcome to the Advanced Pointe course!

    This course is designed for the advanced student and company member. Designed to really challenge and refine your technique as we test your technical skill in the centre.

    Starting with conditioning exercises and feet tips from Isabella, followed by a challenging pointe barre. We then delve into the centre where the real challenge comes with Vaganova exercises Isabella would typically do daily.

    If you can achieve these clean and well done you are well on your way to great technique.

    Advanced Pointe Course – Introduction

    An introduction with Isabella and her students welcoming you to the course. Isabella and the girls will share their personal preferences with their pointe shoes, padding and sewing along with what’s to come. Let’s begin!

    Advanced Pointe Course – Lesson 1
    25:00

    Lesson 1 of this course will introduce you to key exercises on the floor with the theraband and pilates ball. We will then stand up and do some lower leg stabilising exercises and drills to increase strength of the ankles and calves.

    Stronger Pointe Course – Lesson 2
    25:00

    In this Lesson we will be doing some advanced exercises at the barre one after the other. Challenging exercises such as fondu, ronds en l’air and adagio.

    Stronger Pointe Course – Final lesson
    32:00

    The final lesson. This is where the challenge really kicks in. We will be doing dome technically challenging combinations with turns, grands pirouettes, hops on pointe and more. Finishing with a segment from Grands Pas Classique to really get the strength and  stamina up! Let’s go!

    Isabella McGuire Mayes
    Founder

    ​Isabella trained at The Royal Ballet School and then became the first British girl to join the Vaganova Ballet Academy in Saint Petersburg at 15 where she studied for 4 years. She joined the Mikhailovsky Ballet in Russia as a soloist and later danced with Eifman Ballet. Isabella later founded BWI  and her podcast helping dancers all over the world both with the physical side of ballet and mental side. Helping you reach your true potential.
