Welcome to the Développé Front Course.

Course outline

About this course.

Prepare to get your legs strong, beautiful and high to the front!
This a very hard position to achieve in strength and flexibility. We will get it looking beautiful.

Isabella will take you through all the key exercises, stretches, and imagery you need to progress your height of leg to the front and develop a new level of understanding you didn’t have before.

It’s not just about the working leg. Of course we need strength here but we also need strength and connection with the supporting leg. Having proper turnout connection here will allow the leg to progress higher to the front almost instantly.

Let’s dive in and improve.

Course breakdown.
Lesson 1 – Exercises
12:00

To Begin your course we will starting with key exercises to target the muscles used to life the leg to the front. The reason why this is so critical is because we don’t want to overuse the hip flexors. These tendons can get very irritated and cause injury. Isabella will teach you how to connect with your Psoas muscle which is a key component of lifting the legs with strength and ease to the front.

Lesson 2 – Stretches

Of course in order to lift the legs high we need a good range of flexibility. Isabella focuses on doing these stretches in turnout as well as parallel. This will allow you to keep the hips square and sustain your turnout whilst the leg is high.

Lesson 3 – Final Stretches and Imagery

In this lesson we go over our final stretches at the barre and imagery to help lift the leg beautifully high and with the correct muscle usage. This is where we tie it all together. With consistent practice you will see the results!

Isabella McGuire Mayes
Founder

​Isabella trained at The Royal Ballet School and then became the first British girl to join the Vaganova Ballet Academy in Saint Petersburg at 15 where she studied for 4 years. She joined the Mikhailovsky Ballet in Russia as a soloist and later danced with Eifman Ballet.
