About this workshop.
Where seriously focusing on technique and having fun come together.
The Melbourne BWI Ballet Lab is for any dancer aged 14-18 who wants to advance their technical and artistic skills. We’ve called it the ‘Lab’ because this is a place to test new ways of dancing and experiment with corrections.
With Isabella’s expert eye and attention to detail, you’ll take time to deep-dive into technique to figure out those tricky bits that may be holding you back. This is a judgment-free zone, there’s no competition, no need to prove yourself. This intensive is for you to figure out the things you’ve been struggling with.

Each group will have half the day. Junior students (ages 12-14) will be in the morning and senior students (ages 15-18) will be in the afternoon.

Who is this for?
- Any dancer aged 12-18 who wants to advance their technical and artistic skills.
- You are serious about improving technique and want to do so in a supportive environment
- You want to explore your artistry and discover new facets to yourself as a dancer
- You want to build your community with other dancers who are passionate about ballet and about being the best dancers they can be.
Who is this not for?
- You are looking for drop-in classes or a part-time workshop.
- You are at an adult dancer.
- You aren’t interested in focusing on the minute details of technique.
Meet your teacher.
Isabella McGuire Mayes
Founder
Isabella is the youngest and first british graduate to join the vaganova ballet academy at 15 years old. Working to become top of the school. Isabella was a soloist with Mikhailovsky and Eifman ballet before returning to London and discovering her passion for teaching. Isabella founded BWI as a way for dancers globally of all levels to get the detailed vaganova training as well as conditioning they desire to take their ballet to new levels.
