Week 1 Classes

Floor Barre Intermediate

This Class one of my favourite classes of all time. Floor Barre is something that really helped me discover my turnout. I have drawn inspiration from floor barres I have crossed paths with over the years and added my own exercises as well. Connecting with the correct muscles can be hard but this class really helps you connect with those difficult turn out muscles we all need to find. If you do this regularly, your technique will vastly improve! Turnout will get better, balance, pirouettes. That’s what we want! This class can be for all levels, though it’s best for intermediate and up. Enjoy!

Confidence Boosting Full Body Stretch

This class has been a favourite of mine to make. It’s my passion to build peoples confidence and help people become not just better dancers but better and kinder people to themselves. This is a very relaxing and mindful stretch and it’s the perfect class to take if you want to escape from the world for an hour, take some deep breathes and feel completely rejuvenated both mind and body. Enjoy the positive vibes this will give you!

Slider Core Workout

This class is designed to deeply activate your core using sliders, helping you build a stronger, more connected centerfor improved control in ballet. By engaging the deep core and strengthening the psoas, you’ll learn how to take the strain away from your hip flexors allowing your legs to move with more freedom and height.

Intrinsic Foot Workout

This workout is perfect for waking up those intrinsic muscles of the feet. We need these muscles strong so we can have powerful jumps, good balance and beautiful alignment of the foot. This class is perfect for students wanting to improve their feet as well as beginners wanting to condition the unique ballet muscles. Having strong feet will also help your posture in every day life.

Turnout Course

In this lesson Isabella will be taking you through many exercises for your turnout. These exercises are designed to activate the correct muscles which you need to utilise to optimise your turnout. You will need a small towel or Pilates ball for some of the exercises.

How to Improve Attitude and Arabesque

This class will guide you through exercises, stretches and imagery to help you improve your height, alignment and strength of arabesque. The arabesque is one of the most iconic positions in ballet and to achieve a beautiful line of leg and high leg takes practice. With these tools you will get there.

After releasing the confidence boosting stretch class I had so much positive feedback from you all I decided to do another class. This class focuses on positive affirmations and removing self doubt whilst giving an intense stretch to the whole body. A positive mindset can do so much to your training and career. Start now!

Foot & Ankle Injury Prevention

Level 1 aims and objectives: 1. To learn activation of foot intrinsics and arch support. 2. To activate and build endurance to movements of foot inversion, eversion – tibialis posterior and peroneals. 3. To build optimal neuromuscular control of plantar flexion utilising gastrocnemius and soleus to demi pointe. 4. To obtain optimal range of motion into dorsi flexion and learn control of this range. 5. To build single leg stability in standing and stability on double leg demi pointe.

Psoas Course – Turnout Work

Let’s Visualise and find our Psoas muscle. Because the Psoas is so deep running from your lower back all the way round to the front of your body attaching at the hip, it can be hard to find! In this lesson we will find it, learn tools to visualise it and also try to relax it preparing it to lengthen and strengthen in the following lessons. This is a great lesson to come back to when struggling to locate or relax your Psoas muscle.

Stretch and Utilise your Turnout

Mat Madness Full Body

We are back with a one set wonder with Mat Madness. This workout is targeting all the key ballet muscles including abs, glutes, hamstrings, upper back and lower back. With one set we keep going for 25 minutes non stop. A perfect class to do before or after your ballet class for a a full body conditioning session. We now have a cute little timer in the top corner so you can see how long you have to keep working and pushing for! Get ready to feel amazing and stronger in your ballet class.

Stretches for Side Développé

Looking to improve your height of leg to the side! we have spoken about this in detail in the extensions course but in this class we will be doing targeted stretches that will help you get the legs to the height you desire. It’s not just about the legs, you’ll be surprised! If areas of your back and waist are tight you will find you shift the rib cage even if your legs are loose and not have the height or line you desire. With smart stretching techniques we can combat that. This is what this class is for! Get ready to feel the results.

Strong Jumps Workout

Strong jumps requires very strong glutes and backs of legs! Here in this 20 minute class we will be doing some key exercises on the mat and standing up at the barre that really helped me get the power and strength in my legs that I needed to jump high. This class is perfect for students who have gone through a growth spurt and need to start getting their strength back, or for those who are just lacking the strength in general and need to work on it. For those who just want their legs to be that bit more toned, it’s great for that too! Let’s get going.

Psoas Course – Turnout Work

Welcome to the next lesson. Now we’re in a relaxed state, we will be lengthening the muscle with some of my most favourite exercises. You will need a stretching band for this along with two soft balls which you can find on amazon under ‘miracle ball method’ It’s key to keep yourself as relaxed as possible in this lesson with very little tension in the muscles, focusing on length and space in the hip joints. After this, when you stand up, you should feel much more lengthened in the back, grounded in the legs, open in the hips and tall in the torso.

Stronger Pointe Course – Feet Exercises

In this lesson we will be gong through key exercises for the feet along with lower leg drills at the barre. Making sure your feet and legs are strong is key to getting stronger on pointe. If you want to eventually achieve doing fouettés on pointe but can’t do 8 plié relevés on pointe, then of course fouettés will be hard. Let’s start with building the strength of the lower leg and intrinsic muscles of the lower legs. Your Pointe work will instantly feel stronger and it will only get better!

Ultimate Back Workout

Full Body Ballet Stretch Class

Isabella teaches a full body Stretch Class designed to improve and maintain flexibility of the hips and back as well as a relaxing mind and body experience to feel completely rejuvenated.

Hip & Core Strength for Extensions

With the aid of a glute exercise band, we will maximise your strength training, helping you work the muscles to fatigue with added load.   This band is amazing for training the Psoas connection and hip flexors. For extensions, we need a really strong core, and the connection to the Psoas is a key area that needs to be trained and mastered. A weak and tight Psoas will very much inhibit turnout and leg height.

Grand Allegro Course – Tutorial

We will look at the iconic jump of grand pas de chat or grand jeté. With Isabella’s long physique, coordinating the jump was hard. However, she discovered all the keys to mastering a gorgeous jump.

Petit Allegro Course

In this course I will be sharing all my exercises, tips and technique to getting consistent and good petit allegro. Isabella will take you through several petit allegro ballet steps and how to improve them/how to practice them correctly. Petit allegro is so light, fast and impressive. Getting it good takes practice and it looks so mesmerising when it’s done well and is so fun to do. This course will take you on your way to achieving that.

Int Barre Focused on Strength & Extensions

This Vaganova Barre focuses on Strength and Extensions. This will include holds of the legs, lot’s of relevé and added codas within the exercises to push ourselves that little bit more!  This class incorporates style of the Vaganova method along with strengthening combinations to build our technique to new levels.  Appropriate for the Intermediate dancer who can understand relatively complex movements and is  advanced in their knowledge of steps.

Isabella was a soloist with Mikhailovsky and Eifman ballet before returning to London and discovering her passion for teaching. Isabella founded BWI as a way for dancers globally of all levels to get the detailed vaganova training as well as conditioning they desire to take their ballet to new levels.

Level 1 & Introduction

Level 1: Commonly injured area, demanding rep evolving. Arabesque and overuse settle quickly, muscle spasms, pathology to disc or bony structures like stress fractures, over use, lack of rest, lack of strength in back and core. 2. Importance of mobility of tx, can limit function of other areas, load transfer. 3. Controlling use of thoracic extn. 4. What is the core, common beliefs, 360 degree support, crunches, deeper muscles. 5. Anti extension scissors. 6. POS, learning to use the glutes with the back and closing the pelvis for support. 7. Working in box plank, dissociation. 8. Requirement for good hamstring length and effect on pelvis. 9. Working the side of our body, anti lateral flexion. Sh girdle, obliques, glutes. 10. Working the glutes for endurance in functional dance positions, dissociating from the back. 11. Working in functional compound movements.

Level 2

Achievements from level 1, tx mobility, activation of core 360. 2. Isolating lumbar spine extension, activating the muscles that support this. 3. Isolating the sh girdle, ability to ‘get shoulders down’ and connect the core. 4. Progressing the deadbug to straight leg and opp arm, longer levers and increased time under tension. 5. Combining 2 core areas in one exercise. 6. Glute max in more functional position. 7. Progressing deadlifts, compound, multiple muscle groups, correct alignment, dissociation.

Level 3

Learning objs from L1 and 2, mobilise all areas of your spine, what core is and how to find, L3 turns up the intensity to challenge you more and build more resilience. 2. Combining upper and lower back with scap stability, glutes on. L3 aiming to combine many muscle groups. 3. Reflecting on RA and TrA isolation, coupling these together, with increased intensity, using both legs together. 4. Using plank work to allow our body to fire up the core under body weight, learning to shift weight from one side to the other in a controlled way. 5. Side plank for functional training of our supporting leg. How easy this then is in standing.

Level 1: Foundation & Mobility (Weeks 1–3)
This level is about waking up the body and preparing it for deeper flexibility.
You’ll focus on:
Gentle mobility drills for hips, hamstrings, and hip flexors
Myofascial release techniques to reduce tension
Introductory stretches with proper alignment
Perfect for complete beginners or anyone returning to stretching after a break. The key here is consistency — showing up and giving your body time to adapt.

Level 2

Level 2: Active flexibility & Control (Weeks 4-6)
Now that your body is primed, we begin working on active flexibility and control.
You’ll focus on:
Longer hold times in foundational stretches
Chair- and block-assisted drills for depth and support
Active engagement of glutes, core, and legs to create true flexibility. Strengthening supporting muscles around the hips and pelvis. Dynamic stretches to build range and coordination
This level bridges the gap between flexibility and functional mobility — helping you go deeper with control, not force.

Level 3

Level 3: Find your full range (Weeks 7-9)
You’ve done the groundwork — now it’s time to commit to your full range.
You’ll focus on: Combining mobility, strength, and alignment in full split practice. Holding deeper splits with the aid of props (chair, blocks, wall)
Exploring full range in front and middle splits
Flow-style sessions to connect and challenge your flexibility
Learning your new go-to splits maintenance routine
This level is about owning your flexibility. Whether you’re fully flat or still a few inches away, you’ll come out of this with a strong, safe, and sustainable practice to carry forward.
