In this intermediate pointe class, we focus on developing the strength and technique necessary for strong pointe work. The exercises are designed for proper alignment, control, and strength. The class will be on the barre with lots of challenging conditional drills centred around stamina and strength
Who is this for?
- Students who have been doing pointe a while
- Students coming back from injury looking to improve foot strength
- Students looking to build stamina of the feet muscles
- Students looking to improve articulation and alignment of the feet.
Who is this not for?
- Not for students who have never been on pointe before
- Not for students who have done only very little pointe
- Not for students with a foot injury
Meet your teacher:
Suvi Honkanen is a dancer from Helsinki. Suvi began dancing at the age of 3 and studied at the Helsinki Dance Institute’s specialized training program as well as at the Boulder Ballet School in the USA. She completed her professional dancer training at the Finnish National Opera Ballet School and also studied at the Vaganova Academy in St. Petersburg under Irina Sitnikova. After graduating in 2010, she was hired by the Finnish National Ballet, where she danced for nine years in both classical works and contemporary dance repertoire, after which she has been employed as a freelance dancer internationally.
